Raynaud’s Syndrome

Did you know that Raynaud’s Syndrome/Phenomenon can affect breastfeeding? I sure didn’t until my instructor brought this up in Complications of Human Lactation. Raynaud’s involves constriction of the arteries for brief periods - particularly in response to cold or emotional stress. Sufferers may experience symptoms in the fingers, toes, nose, ears, lips and/or nipples.

Have you or someone you love struggled with nipple pain when breastfeeding? If Raynaud’s is involved, there are treatments and remedies that may help. Reach out to find out more!
