mindset about birth
What are your thoughts about birth? Before you had kids, what were the messages you heard growing up? Was having babies something you looked forward to, or did the thought of it freak you out?
We all absorb beliefs and viewpoints from the culture we live in. Some of us may have grown up in a family where birth was embraced and supported. For others, perhaps having babies was scary and something to dread.
Think about what you had learned by the time you were 12 or 13. Amazingly, a number of women have already formulated their basic mindset about birth by that time. Think carefully about where those messages came from.
Did they serve you well when you did have children? Or did you have to forge a new path for yourself?
